Our Garage Floor Coating Process
How we install a garage floor the right way, allowing us to back it up with a lifetime guarantee in most cases.
1. Floor Assessment
It starts with your free estimate. Carl looks at the condition of your concrete, checks for moisture, existing coatings, and cracks, and talks through the best system for how you use the space.
2. Diamond Grinding
We profile the concrete with diamond grinders instead of acid etching or shotblasting. This creates a mechanical bond so the coating locks into the surface and will not peel.
3. Crack and Damage Repair
Next we fill and repair cracks, pits, and surface damage. We set clear expectations about what is cosmetic and what is structural before we start.
4. Base Coat
We apply the base coat, either a solid epoxy or a primer, depending on the system you chose. The base coat is what everything else bonds to.
5. Decorative Layer
This is where your floor takes shape. We broadcast vinyl flake, quartz aggregate, or a solid color depending on your system.
6. Topcoat
Finally we seal everything with a durable polyaspartic or urethane topcoat. We tell you when you can walk on it and when you can park on it.
6. How Long It Takes
We recommend planning on being out of your garage for three full days. The first day is surface prep, repairs, and the base coat. Day two is the clear coat.
Yes, it is possible to do a 1-day garage floor. You can also cook a USDA Prime steak in a microwave in about 60 seconds, you get the point.
