Garage Floor Coatings Built for Durham Homes

NC Garage Floors coats garage floors throughout Durham, the older homes near Duke, the historic districts downtown, and the newer developments pushing east along I-85. We grind the concrete, address whatever years of use have left behind, and apply a coating that cures in a day. Owner-operated, in-house installers, no subcontractors, lifetime warranty.

Durham’s housing stock skews older than any other Triangle city. The historic districts (Trinity Park, Duke Park, Old North Durham, Cleveland-Holloway) have homes built from the late 1890s through the 1940s. The concrete in those garages was poured without vapor barriers, sometimes over decades of accumulated oil, sometimes with surface rust beginning to show. These floors need more prep than a 2005 subdivision garage, but they’re almost always workable. The renovation wave that has moved through Durham over the last fifteen years has brought a lot of them back into the project queue.

Discover Durham

Durham built itself on tobacco and textiles, and the bones of that era are still visible: the old American Tobacco campus, the former mill buildings along the Eno, the rows of worker cottages that have become some of the most sought-after real estate in the Triangle. The Bull City has spent the last two decades turning its industrial history into an identity without losing the neighborhood character that makes places like Trinity Park and Duke Park genuinely distinctive.

Duke University anchors the west side of the city, and the medical and research corridor it anchors has made Durham one of the more economically dynamic cities in the Southeast. The food scene, the arts district, the mix of old architecture and new energy: Durham has become a destination in a way that would have surprised anyone who knew it twenty years ago.
